Building with Nature "Building with Nature" explains the importance of conserving and protecting natural areas while building the places where we live, and how we can do that so that developers and builders can accomplish their tasks in a manner that makes economic sense while preserving the social and environmental values of wooded areas, trees, and native ecological systems. It was produced in 1996 as a joint venture by an Indiana partnership of Citizens for Greenspace, Indiana Urban Forest Council, Hoosier Heartland Resource Conservation & Development Council, C.P. Morgan Company, Inc., The Buckingham Companies, Center for Urban Policy and the Environment and SPEA-Indiana University. It was funded by a combination of grants from Federal, State, local governments, and private companies and non-profits. Even though it was filmed 10 years ago, the information is still timely and valid.

2008 State of the City Address
Keystone Parkway - Signing Ceremony Governor Mitch Daniels and Mayor Brainard announced on September 6, 2007 an agreement in principle for the City of Carmel to assume ownership of Keystone Avenue (State Road 431) from 96th Street to U.S. 31. Tentative terms of the agreement call for the Indiana Department of Transportation to provide Carmel with $90 million, in installments, to reconstruct and redesign the road. Carmel’s plan addresses long-term mainline traffic issues and significantly improves east-west mobility at a much lower cost. The city’s construction plan calls for lowering Keystone Avenue at major intersections and building elevated roundabouts. When completed, Keystone Avenue will be free flowing without any signals within the city. Drivers on east-west cross-streets, such as 116th Street, will use the roundabouts instead of having to stop for signals.
City of Carmel Public Safety Day 2008 - The Carmel Clay Fire Department, Carmel Police Department and St. Vincent Carmel Hospital hosted the 2008 Public Safety Day on September 20, 2008. Safety Day allowed visitors the unique opportunity to see some live demonstrations that are otherwise unavailable to the public. Exciting presentations are given by the Carmel Police K-9 unit, SWAT Rappelling team and the Carmel Fire Department vehicle extrication squad. In addition, many departments from the City of Carmel participated in this year’s event to share their knowledge and role in the community. There was also information about street maintenance, water quality, recycling and household hazardous waste disposal.
