Carmel City Court

Appearing in Court

Persons receiving tickets that require a Court appearance, or persons who do not wish to resolve the case by pleading guilty and paying the assessed fine should be aware of the following:

  1. Payment must be made in the form of cash, money order, cashier's check, credit/debit card, or certified check. Company and personal checks are not accepted.
  2. Anyone under 18 years must appear in Court, and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  3. Persons may call the office of the Carmel City Court. However, wait at least five days after receiving a ticket to ensure the Court staff has the information on file.

Persons must appear in Court on the date shown on the bottom of the ticket, which is an initial hearing date, not a trial date. Persons may request a continuance by writing and filing a request with the Court Clerk at least five days before the scheduled hearing date.
