Carmel, IN – Mayor Jim Brainard has
appointed Joshua Kirsh to the Carmel Clay Board of Parks and
Recreation. The position is a vacancy being filled left by
Tim Tolson. Kirsh’s term will expire December 31, 2013.
“We are all proud of our award winning parks here in Carmel.
As a city, we are unique in the fact that we have the
opportunity to create our parks from designated parkland
whereas other cities have older, already established parks.
I am excited to have such a creative and experienced
individual to fill this vacancy, and I feel fortunate that
Josh is willing to dedicate his time and effort to making
our parks wonderful and unique places we can all enjoy,”
said Jim Brainard.
Joshua Kirsh is currently an EMT/Fire Fighter at the Cicero
Volunteer Fire Department, a committee member of the Jewish
Foundation of Indy and a community outreach organizer for
Kirsh & Kirsh, P.C. A graduate of Carmel High School he
received his Bachelor of Arts and Science/History from
University of Colorado in 2003. While in Boulder, Colorado
Josh was a snowboard instructor and sales rep for multiple
ski/surf products while managing a snowboard shop. He also
served as the interim Director of Operations and
Supervisions for one year at Camp Thunderbird in Boulder
where he attended summer camp as a child for 16 years.
In 2005 he moved back to Carmel and worked as an
instructional assistant for Autistic children at Carmel
Middle School. He has since been involved in promoting more
adoption through Kirsh & Kirsh while acting as a Clerk to
the Courts and Clerks office of Hamilton County, organizing
events and community giving through the Jewish Foundation
and has been trained as an EMT and Mandatory Fire from the
State of Indiana.
The Carmel Clay Board of Parks and Recreation is a
nine-member board charged with providing safe parklands and
facilities to satisfy the community’s need for recreation
and preservation. The Board supervises the Parks and
Recreation Department, establishes rules governing the use
of parks and recreational facilities, and reviews the annual
budget before being sent to the City Council and Clay
Township Board for approval. It also acquires, develops,
programs and maintains parklands and recreational
facilities.
